SAVANNAH- Jean Gilchrist Miller died Thursday, August 23, 2007, under the care of Hospice Savannah. Born in Savannah on June 24, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Robert James and Marguerite Claghorn Gilchrist. Mrs. Miller graduated from Pape School and Armstrong Junior College.
An avid reader and Bridge player, she was also a member of The Junior League and the Colonial Dames in the State of Georgia. She served as a volunteer and was on the board of the Gould Cottage and the Crittendon Home. A member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, she loved her family and friends and was a strong Episcopalian in thought and deed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Bobby Miller, Jr.
Surviving family members include her sons, Sandy Miller and his wife Kit, Jim Miller and his wife Peggy; her daughter Cackie Alley and her husband Steve; and a sister, Margaret Livingston. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Rob Miller, Ashley Taylor, Anne Broderick, Jennifer Paige, Casey Miller, and Elizabeth Miller. Mrs. Miller has eleven, soon to be twelve, great-grandchildren whom she loved very much; a nephew and several nieces.
There will be a service at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Tuesday, August 28, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a private graveside service.
The family sends a special thanks to her friends and extended family at Savannah Square and to the wonderful loving care of all of the workers at Hospice Savannah.
